Another Japan question

We are lucky to have enough points to be able to fly to Tokyo next summer - we are in Scotland so can go in late June too which massively helps.

I know there have been a lot of threads about Japan recently but I'm still struggling to get a sense of accommodation and travel costs for a 3 week touring trip.

Has anyone done a similar trip and are happy to share costs and itinerary - we are not hostel backpackers - looking for decent but not luxury hotels. We are 4 with teens so 2 of everything.

@Takoneko to be honest we didn't spend much time in Onomichi itself as we picked up hire bikes when we arrived and then cycled to Imabari over 2 days. I can recommend a visit to the islands between Onomichi and Imabari, the scenery is stunning.

I agree with you about Fuji. We had a day trip planned and with hindsight should have cancelled as it was a complete waste of time. The weather was awful and we saw nothing the whole day. We did get to see Fuji from the air and from the train but were disappointed not to get the full experience.
