Packing medication

Just a little reminder to always pack more of your medication than you think you will need when you are travelling. We were unable to travel home from Spain last week due to the IT failure and I was struck by the number of people in our hotel who did not have extra medication with them including painkillers for chronic conditions.

I have a LOT of medication so always take enough spare for an extra week.
Also useful to keep a copy of your UK prescription and I have a list of my medical conditions, drugs and doses with a Spanish translation. All in hand luggage.

Remember to take a copy of your prescription. Not only does it come in handy on the rare occasions that Customs might want to know exactly which medicines you are carrying (or were you to be unlucky enough to have an accident and be hospitalised), but if you are in Europe most pharmacies will provide medicine in an emergency based on your UK prescription.
