Pyramids and Cairo - Any help?

Hi everyone,
Long time shadow lurker, first time poster. My wife helpfully suggested that this would be a great place to ask for advice.

My daughter (12) and I are heading to Cairo for a few days soon and I've been reading some horror stories about how tourists are treated around the Pyramids specifically. A friend also remarked that I needed to be super careful, so while I planned this as an amazing adventure I am now having some second/nervious thoughts.

I want to book a guide to help us get from our hotel (a chain hotel near the middle of Cairo) to the Pyramids, see what we need to see and get some photos and then get back. It would be a day trip; we'll be there for three days in total and we're hoping to sail on the Nile and see some museums as well. Does anyone have any suggestions for any tour guides/companies or other such things I could book from here in the UK?

Thanks for your help!

If your hotel has a concierge that’s your first stop. They should be able to organise whatever you need. If they don’t have a concierge you might try getting in touch with your hotel any way to ask for recommendations of locals who are guides. I’ve done a Nile cruise and trip to the pyramids and it was truly an amazing experience. Best wishes.

I'd always wanted to see Pyramids & Sphinx & they're amazing close up, we also went to Egyptian museum. But it was 30 years ago & we were on an organised tour there - we were told even then to be very careful as its obvious who are tourists. We had no issues tho. It was incredibly hot so take lots of water. Can't help re guides etc as it was a long time ago.
We enjoyed it tho so hope you do too!

I booked through Viatour (if you want to set something up beforehand), the guide was excellent and picked us up from our hotel.

I arranged a tour for 6 of us with these guys realegypt.com/ who were amazing. They collected us from airport - whisking us through customs etc. did a tour of pyramids and were there at 7am before anyone else. Was amazing.

I also highly recommend a food tour with these belliesenroute.com/ - great local introduction (and lessons on road crossing which were much needed!)

I wouldn't ask an hotel employee; he'll possibly give you a distant relative who is out-of-work & happens to have an old car & speaks a bit of English.

I've been twice, but relied on tours via an accredited UK company.

A top hotel will have relationships with on the ground tours and they will not be calling their cousins. Concierge services are highly underrated and hugely important for tourists and businesses.

I visited Easter this year and can highly recommend Sugar Queen and this company: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/AttractionProductReview-g294201-d19251003-Cairo_Food_Tour-Cairo_Cairo_Governorate.html
Thats for the food tour, but they do pyramids and many others. They’ll make a bespoke tour for you.
They were honestly fantastic!
