Anyone departed from Stansted this week?

I’m flying out of Stansted tomorrow at 6:40am.

I’ll be staying at an airport hotel, so it’s not a big deal, but just got a message from Ryanair advising us to go 3 hours before as there are security staff shortages.

so we’ll have to go to the airport at 3:30.

is it really that busy?

thanks!

Stansted is notoriously bad at the security gates. Do you have luggage to check in? If you can I'd pay for fast track or if not join the security lines on the right.

We sailed through at midday; anyone who’d paid for fast track would have felt a chump. At that time of day, you’re the first flights so little build up from prior flights

Brooklyn70 · 24/07/2024 10:17

Yes. I’m checking in one bag and got an email earlier in the week too saying check in will be open from 2:30, which I thought didn’t make any sense, who would want to check in that early?

I always use the right hand gates!

we’ll go early just in case, I guess since we’re going to Spain, an afternoon nap will be on the cards tomorrow.

How busy was it when you got there OP? Just got the same message for our flight tomorrow at 6.30am. I had assumed it might not be so busy at the tail end of school hols!

We flew out last Thursday and received the same message, we flew early afternoon.

Airport was busy but we were through security in around 10 minutes.

The airport was packed!

the queue to check luggage with Ryanair was extremely long, but they’ve now set up loads of self check-in machines and it moved very quickly

the x Ray area was the quietest I’ve seen though!

I think from arriving at the airport to inside the duty free area it was under half hour.

So the Ryanair scaremongering about security was bullshit then?

Vermin · 29/08/2024 17:13

Yes. I received it the night before travel and sailed through check in and security. It’s almost as if Ryan Air want to scare people to pay an extra fee for speedy security passes… (I don’t think I even saw the separate speedy line? There was no queue at the normal ones!)

The busiest I ever saw security at Stansted was at 6am.
