Anyone familiar with the Eifel National Park?

We're going to Germany at the end of August, and have booked self catering accommodation near Heimbach in the Eifel National Park on the German/Belgian border.

Does anyone know the area? Would very much welcome recommendations for things to do, places to visit. We like walking, cycling, visiting interesting towns. We'll have our car, so driving is no issue. Family includes two teenagers. Thanks!

Monschau is lovely. Drielandenpunkt where you can stand in 3 countries at once. Some of the Mosel wine towns are lovely and Trier is worth a visit. My daughter loved the War museum at Bastogne. Would Cologne be too far? Great zoo and a cable car over the Rhein and boat trips. Aachen is Nice.

@MissAmbrosia - that's brilliant! No, Cologne isn't too far - about an hour's drive, according to Google. My ds a bit of a ww2 history buff so the museum is a good idea. Thanks so much for the tips!
