Places with climate similar to Mallorca but cheaper

Good morning, we're currently staying in Mallorca near Santa Ponca and are really impressed with climate here compared to Greece, Cyprus or Turkey this time of the year.
Air and sea temperature, greenery and, the most important, humidity feel just perfect for the summer.

Could you please recommend something similar in terms of climate but cheaper for next July-August, within 5 hrs flight from London?
I'm fine with self-catering as long as I don't need to use car for food shopping.

Mainland spain is usually cheaper. North by blanes tossa de mar etc

I wouldn't get too hung up on specific data points, OP. As with the UK, places vary hugely from year to year, and as we might think we're having a good summer or a crap summer, so things change elsewhere.

I've been to Mallorca a lot. We've had cold May half terms and glorious ones. We've had pleasant Augusts and heatwave Augusts and we've had amazing Octobers and drowned out Octobers.

Overall I do think Mallorca offers a fabulous balance, so if you've exhausted all options there, I'd look at other Western Med islands or coastlines. (Sorry not actually answering your q!)

I've made a comparison table, just need add flight length and research prices for hotels with waterparks there :)) Phuket was added as a comparison because it's hot and humid.

I'm fine with cold sea in Portugal or Canaries as long as there's a hotel with good waterpark on site.

I think it makes sense visiting countries as Albania or Bulgaria only if staying in more pricey AI resorts with their own beaches, though it still doesn't guarantee non-smoking environment on the beach or around the pool.

I'm a bit bored right now :)))) but next time someone asks where to go for summer holidays, they can be referred here 😂

😂 It's very impressive, my brain can't cope with this level of detail and comparison!

Try Lanzarote, always a breeze, not green but some fab excursions and all low rise accommodation. Summer is their low season and prices are good. It’s why we originally started going 25 years ago when my kids were small. Probably Playa Blanca would suit as that seems to have hotels with more facilities/ water parks

@HappierTimesAhead I'll be picking something from the bottom part of the list, like Madeira and below, for the next summer.

I like your table 😊
But don’t go to Mykonos if you want cheaper than Mallorca. Everything is unreasonably expensive.

There are lots of other breezy islands in the Cyclades that don’t feel too hot because of the Meltemi. It’s one of the reason we return to the Cyclades most Augusts.

Naxos, Syros, Tinos, Paros, Anti-Paros are all lovely and much cheaper than Mykonos.

Portugal is still very reasonably priced. Croatia is beautiful, and more expensive than it was, but still doable.

It depends where in Portugal. The Algarve is more expensive than Majorca by and large, at least for accommodation.

How do you get to Cyclades?

Fly to Greece (we chose the cheapest arrival airport for the dates) and then catch a ferry. It’s very easy and not as stressful as it may sound. You’ll unlock a whole new world of beautiful islands! Great value too as they’re slightly harder to reach so beaches/restaurants not as packed and therefore places offer more competitive rates. The food quality is also excellent on every island we’ve visited.

The TripAdvisor Cyclades forum is a great place to find more info https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowForum-g189422-i244-Cyclades_South_Aegean.html

You can fly direct to Mykonos or Santorini which are part of the Cyclades. I wouldn’t stay on these islands though as they are very busy and expensive (Mykonos has a glam party vibe and Santorini is more cruise ships and honeymooners). But they are also ferry hubs so it’s very easy to get to other Cycladic islands from them.

Or get ferry from Athens. Or get an internal flight from Athens as a few Cycladic have domestic airports eg Milos, Naxos, Paros, Astypalea.

I agree with you regarding costs for Mallorca OP - we stayed in Puerto Pollensa a couple of years back and our accommodation was really over priced . We've found mainland Spain and Portugal to be a lot cheaper .

I wouldn't get too hung up on your weather chart though - as this can vary a lot .
