Farnsfield Nottingham where to stay

We are visiting friends in Farnsfield, Notts and would like to stay the night in a lovely hotel within about 45 minutes drive from there ... anyone familiar with the area that could recommend somewhere lovely to stay, can be quite rural? Many thanks :-)

Farnsfield itself is quite rural There's lots of lovely places nearby. Do you want somewhere quiet or somewhere with a bit going on in the evening so you can pop out? Southwell is only 10 mins away and I'm sure has a lovely hotel. Newark is within 30 mins for a bit more 'buzz'

I would look for a hotel or BnB in Southwell, it's a lovely small market town.
There's also a 4* hotel in Kelham.
