How would you split the cost of the villa?

Villa has 3 double bedrooms, one single bedroom.

6 adults are going. 2 couples and 2 singles.

Villa costs £2000. Do you split cost by bedroom? Or do you divide by 6?

So should cost be £400 a room?
or £333 each?

I would divide by 6. It’s not just the bedroom you pay for when you rent a villa.

HarrietofFire · 23/07/2024 19:23

Divide by six

VivaVivaa · 23/07/2024 19:24

Divide by 6. Wouldn’t occur to me to do it by bedroom.

WhyIhatebaylissandharding · 23/07/2024 19:24

Divide by 6, everyone has a bed and is using the communal space.

Ohdosodoffdear · 23/07/2024 19:42

Divide by 6, why would the single people subsidise the couple's holiday?

IAmTheSockThief · 23/07/2024 19:43

Definitely divide by 6

1apenny2apenny · 23/07/2024 19:46

No I don't think it's fair for the person in the single room to pay the same, I bet that room
Is really small.

I would do:
Double rooms - 560
Single room - 320

Or something like that ....

Doingmybest12 · 23/07/2024 19:48

I would work it so the single bedroom person pays slightly less for the single room.

Doingmybest12 · 23/07/2024 19:49

Beat me to it

rookiemere · 23/07/2024 19:56

I agree the single bedroom should cost less, as usually not only is it much smaller but doesn't have an en suite and is not as nicely decorated.

Chernobog · 23/07/2024 19:58

Just divide by 6, doubles may be nicer, but they are shared

Ponderingwindow · 23/07/2024 20:04

Divide by 6

person who ends up in the single skips buying a round or two of drinks depending on what you tend to drink

Ratherbeaspoonthanafork · 23/07/2024 20:04

Usually the single rooms are pokey, have no view, are less nice and have a shared bathroom so I would expect singles to be paying less than a person in a couple with a nice big bed, nicer room, a view (extra room space) and possibly an en suite.

YellowAsteroid · 23/07/2024 20:06

The person in the single room should definitely pay a lot less!

One of them won't be shared

Dividing by 6 means that the one person in the double room pays the same as the person in the single room. Single room person should pay less

VivaVivaa · 23/07/2024 20:09

What happens if both of the single people want the single room in order to pay less? How do you decide who has to stump up more for an unnecessary double?

Chernobog · 23/07/2024 20:29

Oh, I missed that! I'm an idiot

More difficult then
Maybe divide by 6, but single person in the double pays towards person in the single??

I don't know

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/07/2024 20:29

Do the doubles have en-suites? Are there some nicer than others?

I would be splitting by 6 unless the some of the rooms were far far nicer.

Warmfeet · 23/07/2024 20:33

as they're friends just divide total cost by 6. If the single isn't as nice then let them pay less towards food for example. Toss up between singles as to who gets which room.

GeorgeBeckett · 23/07/2024 20:37

Divide by 6, add in single room discount. E.g single room is £315 and everyone else pays £337 if people are likely to care, or one single would prefer a discount and one would prefer more luxury.

Or - 2 singles flip for the single/double and the one who gets the double buys some drinks for the other one or makes breakfast or something!

I'm sure you're not an idiot! I had to read it at least twice 😔

StormingNorman · 23/07/2024 21:26

Per person and the person in the single room should pay slightly less.

caringcarer · 23/07/2024 21:34

Divid by 6 but toss a coin to determine which single person gets the double room.

HoHoHoliday · 23/07/2024 21:37

I'd start with the aim of splitting per person as you're all sharing the villa.
Then I'd give the single people a small discount, and assuming the single room is the traditional small pokey room, whoever is in there should get an extra discount.

Something like:
Single room, one person: £275
Double room, one person: £325
Double room, two people: £350 per person

Bourneyesterday · 23/07/2024 21:39

Divide by 6.

The single room will be smaller but isn't shared and will cost the occupant half of what the double room will cost its occupants.
