Ideas for add-on trip in France with 4yo?

We had booked a holiday in France (Dordogne) this August thinking we needed to be back in time for my 4yo to start reception on 2nd September but have only just found out the start date isn't till mid-September!

Rather than come home to a long bank holiday weekend without plans I'm looking at prolonging our trip by a few days. The Dordogne accommodation is fully booked so we would need to go elsewhere. Not booked flights or car hire yet so happy to fly home from a different airport, catch a train etc.

Does anyone have any ideas for a trip we could make for a few extra days at the end of August start of September?

I know France is so busy at that time. I checked Centre Parcs and Euro camp and there's nothing. Theres something on the Il de Re but not sure if that will feel hideously busy after the bucolic peace of the Dordogne.

Ideas welcomed! Thank you

France gets quieter and quieter from the 15th August onwards (bank holiday) so I doubt anywhere will be very busy.
For campsites, you'd better looking directly e.g. huttopia or sunelia for bigger companies or individual sites.

Ile de Re or Noirmoutier?

Arcachon/Biscarrosse area. A few days at the beach, and only a shortish drive from the Dordogne.
