Flying Swiss- experience of quick transfers in Zurich

Hi, Just looking for anyone who has trasnitted through Zurich, flying from South Africa for Christmas and these look like good value tickets without having to do a long leg via Doha or UAE. Transit times through Zurich are only 50 mins. The website says this is totally fine and they are the best at this but would love to hear from an actual person who has transitted in Zurich that it isn't a mad dash.

Zurich is a small airport and generally things run pretty well. The only issue would be a delay. As long as your bags are checked through, it should be fine!

Which airline(s) are you travelling with?

You will probably be OK for the connection, but there are advantages if you are going all the way with the same airline (or at least with codeshare partners). In the case of a short delay they might hold the plane for you for a few minutes, and in the case of a longer one where you miss the plane they have to get you to the destination. If you arrive on a completely different airline/codeshare group, your late arrival at the gate in Zurich will be your problem and you will be faced with rebooking costs (and/or you might even lose the full value of your ticket, if it's a cheapie). Check with your travel insurance what they will cover in such a case.

Thanks, it would be with Swiss and booked as a whole trip with codeshares- I have learned that lesson previously! It is tight but they seem happy to sell the ticket with a short turnaround.
There don't seem to be any alternatives.

If you're allowed to do it, then notwithstanding any impediments which would significantly slow you down through the airport, do it.

As you said, you're booked right through and Swiss efficiency will look after your luggage. Should the worst happen, they'll have to look after you.

Not a transfer, but we had to make a dash for an alternative flight home from Zurich once when we had one cancelled and it was very quick to get through.
