I need help. DD will be 20 and DS 18 and we are planning hols for next year and I want it to be special as it’s possibly the last family holiday. DD and I love beaches, shopping, cocktails, meals out. DS likes this too but he also loves cities and needs other things to do. DH is pretty chilled so happy to go with the flow. Budget around £8000 Wide brief I know!

Thanks everyone. I should have mentioned in my post that we are lucky enough to have already done Singapore, Hong Kong, Bali, Dubai and the Maldives. Also did Disneyworld/Universal when the kids were younger.

Thailand or Vietnam could fit the bill…

I’d look at Sri Lanka too - lots of culture, wildlife (think proper safari with elephants, leopards, water buffalo, croc's etc) and gorgeous beaches (great surfing) and very reasonable so I’d think would work in your budget. We stayed in airbnbs and some came with their own cook, which was a delight. We got a driver who was a miracle worker so travelled round quite a bit. Best places to go depend on your time of year.

Just so you're aware ...our "last ever family holiday" has now been going on for 15 years 🤣🤣🤣.

@Ifonlyiweretaller - love this 😅

@Wimbledoner - DH won’t do a cruise.

Our "last" big holiday was 8 years ago when DC were 21 and 19 and we did a cruise. It was perfect for the mix of city sightseeing and luxury relaxation.
Having said that they still come with us once or twice a year but it's a weekend in the UK.

We are just back from a trip to Singapore and Vietnam with our DC the same ages as yours.

Stayed in Central Vietnam - Google An Bang beach; it’s heaven! Cheap as chips - fabulous cocktails and really amazing food. Singapore great for a city fix.

Singapore Airlines have a new cheap flight from Gatwick - you could definitely do it within your budget.

This all sounds amazing

It was! We went for 3 nights to Singapore and 8 nights Vietnam and stayed in gorgeous hotels, had huge breakfasts included and it was around £8k total I reckon, including lots of trips, all food, drink, accommodation, travel and spending money. Also spent about £350 at the tailors on made to measure outfits that were turned around in 48 hours with 2 fittings : 2 suits, 2 linen shirts, a dress, a skirt and a top.

Vietnam such good value. Beer 30p-£1, can eat really well for less than £5.

Makes lots of Europe feel very expensive for a holiday.

We are currently working our way through the last 'big holidays' with DSS. Although I stupidly after one too many wines promised DSS that we'd still take him away whilst he was at uni (if he wanted to come)
Thailand 15
Vietnam 16
UK (flying BC from Australia) 17
Thailand (next year) 18

Cannot recommend Thailand highly enough, Bangkok for a few nights then off to an island. DSS preferred Thailand over Vietnam, both were awesome but just very different experiences.
How exciting OP!
