Booking hotel with 9 & 11yo. Share? Separate?

We've only ever been to villas/apartments before where there've been at least 2 rooms. Are they old enough to be in a separate room together, or too old to share as there's a boy and a girl. What do other people do? Have seen a family suite available, which is cheaper than 2 rooms, but not much privacy for DH and me! . And how can I guarantee (booking on-line) that the two rooms would be adjacent?

Get them sep rooms if you possibley can, they are too old to share - I made that mistake once! Some drop down menus for rooms give option for adjacent rooms, otherwise check directly over phone or something.

possibly

But aren't you then into single room supplements? That would make a massive difference to the overall cost. Surely there must be a better option. This must be an issue for most families at some stage or other.

A family suite often consists of two rooms with a door between them. Might be worth phoning the hotel and asking? Ours are 13 and 10 and tbh when we went away over easter we still got a family room, with them on a sofabed. It was fine, we just ate later, then they went to sleep about 10ish and we crashed out with the papers and hot chocolate!
