Child's emergency passport

Is anyway else currently holding their breath waiting for a child's emergency passport?

Yes we are total idiots and realised a couple of days ago there are only 5 months left on our DDs passport.

Drove up to Durham yesterday for a 9am appointment to start the steps to fast track their passport

Will take up to 7 days but really hoping it comes sooner!!!! (Apparently this is possible...)

Again I know we have been idiots not to check . The passports were safely stored away.

When and where have you booked to go?

If you are going to the EU then you are fine as long as there are three months of validity left on your intended day of return, which will be the case if you are going for a trip of less than two months. A return air or ferry ticket is all the proof you need of the intended return date.

You also have to be careful that the passport is less than 10 years old on the day you enter the EU, but that usually only causes problems for adults who renewed their passports earlier than 10 years and had time added on.

For non-EU countries there are other rules.

If you had to hand in the old passport, I really hope the new one comes in time, because your mistake may have been in renewing it. 😲 We get a thread about this topic about once a month.

Ah Egypt on Sunday. My DH and DS may have to fly out and then me and my Dd join them as soon as it arrives.

Apparently the computer issues today didn't effect the passports so fingers crossed it arrives ASAP 😫

I had 3 months left on mine and went to Cyprus for a week a couple of years ago and they didn't bat an eyelid... I thought it was at least 6 months for long haul. Hope it comes on time for you.

My standard passport application only took one week from posting it to it being delivered last month, so you might be lucky. Have you had an update its been printed or a message from royal mail they are expecting it?

I've done this a could have times and have always come really quick, I think within 5 working days. Hope you get it back in time for your flight.
Also I believe they can deliver on any day including weekends as it's via a courier

Cyprus only asks for 3 months remaining which is why you were fine.

@deleteitforpro56 there was a recent thread with child passports and they received the new ones on day 8. They had to cancel their flights as the passport arrived after the time they were due to fly

My DD's renewal was back in 7 days (not fast tracked) so fingers crossed!

Keep checking updates and it hasn't been printed yet. Will be checking constantly tomorrow as if it is we have a chance it will be delivered on time. Ahh

We did a 1 week fast track. App Monday, arrived Thursday. Fingers crossed for you.

@loobylou10 was yours approved one day , printed the next, and then delivered the day after?

@deleteitforpro56 it was approved by text about half an hour after we left the passport office, printed the Tuesday, arrived Thursday.

@loobylou10 oh wow was it pure luck you got approved so quickly?

Still nothing on our application and we are due to fly out tomorrow (well we obviously aren't ..)

@deleteitforpro56 I'm not sure. We got a 9am app at Liverpool. Everything was very efficient but the passport was water damaged so may have been a straight forward replace!? I literally had the approved text before we got back in the car. Can you fly out in a day or so when it arrives?

Oh yes will be in the next available flight as soon as it arrives.
