Where to go in October? Cyprus, Canaries or Turkey?

We’re hoping to be able to have a week away at the end of October.

Really hoping for somewhere to be able to laze by the pool / on the beach as well as do a bit of exploring.

2 older teens so an AI would be ideal, one room with 2 bedrooms, very close to a beach, heated outdoor pool would be lovely, no more than 2 hours transfer.

i’ve found a couple of options that would fit the bill in Turkey, Cyprus and The Canaries but I’m going round in circles where the weather is likely to be best.

Any suggestions or particular hotel recommendations would be great.

We did Cyprus and Lanzarote, each time last week in October. Aeons ago we went to Turkey around that time as well.

In all cases we had the odd day with rain but otherwise we had pool weather between 10-4, it is definitely the season for layering up in the morning and as soon as the sun goes down.

We did plenty of sightseeing in Cyprus, that was the main reason for going so the clouds or fresher day didn't bother us.

I personally would go back to Cyprus without a doubt.

Thanks, I don’t know a lot about Cyprus so will take a closer look

Weather wise Canaries is the most reliable but both Cyprus and Turkey should be nice then. It’s half term so it’s a popular time to go to these places.

Following, as also interested in going away then, was thinking Greek islands , it’s scorching hot now so perhaps (early October for me) it will be comfortable weather?

PashaMinaMio · 19/07/2024 07:30

Madeira is lovely in October and, if like last year, can sunbathe in November too.
Brits love Madeira.

NB; Good weather can never be guaranteed wherever you go but we’ve had two great holidays of warm temperatures and lots of swimming.

rookiemere · 19/07/2024 07:35

Canaries more reliably warm that time of year. We had some great October half term breaks in Tenerife and Lanzarote.

I think the weather will be much of a muchness in the places you've mentioned so would go to whichever hotel / beach / local amenities fits the bill.

@Muchtoomuchtodo I've been looking for similar but can't decide where night be the best option. Also looking for heated pool would mind sharing where you have found please?

RogersOrganismicProcess · 19/07/2024 07:45

Canaries is more reliable.

Turkey has terrible human rights.

@cheesenpickle finding details about heated pools seems to be very tricky! The Barut chain seem good though

Barut chain are excellent. Have stayed at the Lara and Hemera. Early October though, was still hot but needed a jacket in the evenings.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 19/07/2024 18:44

Which did you prefer @Floofydawg . They look pretty similar and not too far apart in location

We did Cape Verde in October and it was mid-high 20's every day. Lots of AI resorts to choose from. Flight from Gatwick was around 6 hours with a 1 hour time difference.

Both amazing but the Lara is the better one in my opinion.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 19/07/2024 23:02

@Floofydawg lara is a fair bit more expensive for our dates and doesn’t have a suitable room available so we can rule that one out.

@Muchtoomuchtodo yeah it does tend to be more expensive - there are more restaurant choices. But they are both fabulous.
