I have just started looking into a holiday to Croatia next year, maybe August, for myself and DD, 11. Does anyone have any advice on where would be best to go please? Also it's coming up very expensive so any suggestions in that respect would be great.

We have been to Croatia 3 times. Loved Zagreb and Dubrovnik, but our favourite place was Opatija. We stayed in the Bellvue Hotel, which was lovely. Easy to explore Pula, Rijeka, Plitvice Lakes. You can also visit the Postojna caves in Slovenia, which are amazing.

We stayed at Valamar Isabella, which is on an island in Porec. Lovely hotel, with the novelty of using a shuttle boat to get to the town.

I have heard good things about Bi village near Pula.
I quite fancy the Neilson resort (maybe nearer Split?)
Nice little hotels down the coast between Dubrovnik and Cavtat and transport between over that stretch of coast, plus boats over to Lokrum.

Sun Gardens was a favourite of mine and DD15 when she was about 8. Near Dubrovnik.

Rovinj in the North. The Valamar hotels around there are nice . You can also fly into Trieste or Ljubljana for there, Trieste has cheaper flights. Ljubljana allows you to opt to stay an an extra night there on way back, you can go via the Postijana caves and castle to break up journey.

I don’t really like Opatja, it’s very rocky and no easy access to the sea. And mainly built up town.

It absolutely beautiful, but if your going near a beach, pack aqua shoes.
