Have seen a nice villa to rent but just wondering is it a very built up town?

We’ve been to a hotel there several times and are going again in August. It’s lovely, a traditional Spanish town, fairly small. Feels authentic. I wouldn’t say it’s built up, maybe a little scruffy in parts.
No beach but a couple of lovely coves to walk to. Cala Fonts is beautiful and comes alive in the evenings with lots of eateries.
You would probably want to hire a car to explore.
Mahon is really close and is gorgeous.

Just got back, it's lovely but quite hilly, lots of restaurants on the sea front, 20 mins by car to Mahón and also the lovely beaches in Cala'n'Porter and Binibeca (also check out the gorgeous old town)
