I've been doing all kinds of research.I learned about Center Parcs while researching going to Disneyland Paris. But the reviews are scarily inconsistent,.

It would be much easier to visit somewhere in the UK. I admit, I'm a snob when it comes to travel. I did lots of roughing it canoeing to campsites and camping in Canada when I was a child. I like nature. But nice beds and showers! :D I was recently in Paris for a quick weekend trip with my son and on an amusement park ride I was trembling!! So I'm not keen on taking him to an amusement park. He loves water and I thought maybe the Center Parcs would be okay but it's just two of us. The apartments in the UK ones look super small at Elveden and Wolburn.

I would love somewhere with lots of activities. Good food. Some peaceful evenings. Easy to get to from London (train and taxi).

I would love suggestions.
