Escaping Christmas

I lost my husband early this year. It was a heart attack and a huge shock. I am dreading this Christmas without him and have decided to get away from it by going somewhere warm, and just lounging by the pool/ sea for a week. I don’t want a long flight and don’t need culture/outings, as the whole idea is a minimal stress escape. My two children, in their twenties, will be coming with me. I wondered about Gambia/Senegal, but I’m not sure about the ethics of that. Has anyone been anywhere that fits my bill they can recommend?

Well it may be too far, and it's definitely not lounging, but a friend of mine went to Belize one Christmas and it sounded absolutely amazing - an organised trip centred around the wildlife (forest the ocean I think). Otherwise I think there are some wonderful resorts in México
