We haven’t been abroad for years, probably since 2016 so I’m hoping to have a few days away with him in Europe July next year. Not too hot with plenty to see in the way of museums, art galleries. Also like the idea of somewhere architecturally interesting with a nice vibe, cafes etc. Love Hanseatic architecture so Wrocław or Gdańsk look interesting but not sure how much there is to see. Anyone been there or has suggestions ?

I can't help much on Gdansk as.it was over 20 years ago when I was last there. However from your list I would choose Prague or Krakow.

I’ve been to all 4 of the places you mentioned. For architecture, Prague, however, Berlin has amazing museums and is quite quirky. There’s a floating swimming pool in the river, great food choices. I’m not a fan of Amsterdam parts of it are just very seedy. However there are some beautiful buildings. Krakow is very interesting from a historical point of view.

Krakow is great and really cheap.

It's a really pretty mini-Vienna which I wasn't expecting. There are lots of galleries and museums and a tower to climb.

You can go round Schindler's factory and learn a lot about the history of the town and also go to Auschwitz if that is of interest. Or there is the salt mine as an alternative.

I went to Gdańsk on a Baltic cruise two years ago, the architecture is amazing, it was early August and so hot.

Riga may also appeal to you.

I haven’t been to Krakow but have had great city breaks at the other three destinations you mentioned and think any of them would would work well. Berlin is very interesting but not a ‘beautiful’ place compared to Prague, Tallin for example.
