Silly question about airport security

I ought to know this really, but...

Flying from Leeds Bradford on Sunday. Trying to plan a very early start!

Will we be able to bring food to the airport and take through security to eat airside or on plane?

Thanks

Yes as long as it’s not liquidy things like yogurt.

Yes if it's solid. They might get funny if it's anything close to liquid (I once had a security person confiscate a solid jar of Shea butter off me because they said if it got hot it would melt and then it would be a liquid). They sometimes forget that they're looking out for potential bombs, not potential butter.

Just stick to sandwiches or sausages rolls etc!

Thank you! I actually fly quite regularly with work but never bring my own food, so didn't know the answer

And the country you fly to may have restrictions on what you can 'import' so don't take stuff unless you're confident you'll eat it as you'll have to dispose of it on the plane otherwise. Generally processed food is fine but fresh food isn't. We've often been the family all eating apples just after the plane has touched down!

Solid food is fine
Anything resembling a liquid or thick paste wouldn't be allowed e.g. yoghurt, juices, etc
Think we had grapes/cherries in our hand luggage on the way to Cyprus this year as we needed to clear the fridge out. Also took pringles and sweets.

@thehousewiththesagegreensofa ha ha! That was us as the plane descended in to Boston airport earlier this year.

I'm sure that definitely ended up in the bin, and was absolutely not taken home at the end of the day for the use of the security person themselves and/or their DP. That certainly couldn't possibly happen.
