Egypt - Vaccines

Yesterday, in a flurry of excitement due to a good deal, we booked a holiday to Egypt in 5 weeks time, with Tui. It’s to a holiday village, all inclusive, we do not intend on leaving the complex.

Today it dawned on us about vaccines. Our GP practice can’t see us for a few weeks. There is no private vaccine clinic near us (not be within 40miles anyway) and it would cost us £240.

Apparently we need Typhoid and Hep A. And 6 weeks in advance.

Now panicking because if we cancel we’ll lose 70% of the cost of the holiday.

Im Googling like mad. The vaccines are recommended not essential to travel.

What I’m earth do we do??!! We have a 9 year old daughter who has had all her childhood vaccines. But I’m not comfortable with risking it.

We went to Egypt in March Didn’t even consider vaccines. Still here and didn’t catch anything so all good.
I would be more concerned about the heat and heat stroke and possibly the risk of upset stomachs. (take rehydration sachets/electrolytes and immodium with you)
We had no problems though with the food and water when we were there.
If you are concerned about vaccines though I think places like trailfinders do vaccines . And also pharmacies even Superdrug I think may do them so worth googling
I think if you don’t intend leaving the resort you will be fine I think a lot of these recommendations are based on people going rural or off the tourist tracks where resources and hygiene may not be as good but I understand your concern around your DD.

You'll be in a holiday village - I wouldn't worry.

Yes 37 degrees. Surely all bugs die at that heat?!! 😂😭🙈

ive researched private vaccine clinics and even the boots/Superdrug ones are nearly 2 hours away.

Yes it’s like a microcosm of its own isn’t it. Only staff and holiday makers coming and going. We did half consider a pyramids trip but definitely won’t now

Goodness, do go and see the pyramids!
