Lesser-known, quiet-ish but not isolated beach holiday destinations that aren't more than a few hours flight away and will still be warm in September/October?

I'm considering trying to book our first holiday for about 6 years, if DH gets his redundancy package in a few weeks (he has a couple of job offers). We'll need to keep the cost down as much as possible, and depending on the results of my Dad's medical tests next week it might be a busted flush anyway...but we've been through so much horrible crap this year that even fantasising about it is making me feel better 😂 so if you wouldn't mind indulging me...

We'd want a private villa, not a hotel, as we are a family of anxious avoidant fuckers who like our own space. 19yo DS2 will want a sandy beach very close, and we'll have 22yo DC1 and partner, plus my 84yo Dad so we can't be in the middle of nowhere and trekking miles to get to a shop. Not keen on being slap bang in the middle of a busy tourist centre either. Maybe what I want doesn't exist, but I'd be grateful for any suggestions!

El Cotillo in Fuerteventura (Canary Islands) might work.
amazing beaches, nice restaurants in a small town, a little bit off the tourist track.
Some very nice villas. If you can hire a car (we did) it's a 30 mins drive to the nice town of Lajeres and 50 mins to the main town of Corralejo

Montenegro? Still cheap flights and accommodation with lovely beaches (though not all are sandy so do check).

Those are both fantastic ideas, thank you! Am really enjoying browsing them Grin

Tavira in Portugal would be lovely, I know a family of 3 generations who go there every year and they all love it. Very quiet, beautiful scenery and the weather should be nice in September. They get a big villa there and always rave about it.

Possibly Essaouira in Morocco. I've been there but only for a day trip but it might be worth a look.

I had a few days in Essaouira last month. Not sure what the temp would be in Sept / Oct and that probably gives a significant variation. It deserves its name as the windy city which cools it down a fair bit. Nice small city the beech is fairly surf sports focused. Not sure if you can get a villa but there were AirB&B apartments with private private pool and terrace.
Its around 2.5 hours from Marrakesh which i think is the nearest airport with UK flights so may be too long for you.

Menorca, we have just come back from a villa holiday there. Booked both flights and villa with Jet2. Lots of lovely beaches and the island isn’t huge.

You can fly direct from Stansted. Ive been twice. I love it, but Its more surfers and hippies than relaxing on the beach.
