Funchal hotels (Madeira)

Could anyone recommend a nice hotel in or near to Funchal in Madeira?

The one we went to last year is fully booked over Xmas and NY.

Ideally want to do half board as I have two hungry teens so it usually works out cheaper.

We stayed at Enotel Lido last July and it was very good. About 4 or 5 restaurants, good pools, food was good as well.

We have stayed at The Vine hotel before, right in the centre of Funchal.

Porto Santa Maria . Adults only, check age limit.

The first two are full on the dates we want to go, unfortunately!
The third one won't suit as I have two kids!

We had a great stay in Hotel Next, Savoy Signature last year.

We did too and second this! My kids still talk about the all inclusive (it was our first AI holiday) with alarming regularity!

I put in random dates for that time and airport, into jet2 and these two both come up with amazing reviews

Porto cliff bay (same group as the adults only suggested above). Been multiple times and it’s bliss. Welcomes children. Very friendly. Great staff.

Castaneiro Boutique Hotel in town centre, or Pestana Promenade in the Lido are both lovely

Eden Mar suite hotel - most comfortable beds I’ve ever had in a hotel and amazing garden grounds and pools

I know this is an old thread but how old were your kids when you visited please (was it easy to go elsewhere for a change of scenery).

They were 12 and 8 and yes, taxis were very reasonable although we didn’t venture far!
