Where is warm but not waspy in August?

Looking for some sun mid August but my DCs and myself have a bit of a wasp phobia. Pretty much rules out Greece… is there anywhere in Europe we can enjoy the beach without being harassed by the blighters?

We go to Greece most summers and I can't say I've noticed any wasps at all. Or if I have, it's not registered as being any different to the UK in terms of frequency.

I've never found Portugal particularly waspy at that time of year. Incidentally, I went to Greece last year and was dreading it after hearing reports about wasp infestations, but hardly saw any! Mosquitoes, on the other hand....

Greece varies. The Ionian islands are very waspy but the Cyclades are not. Basically avoid the greener islands. Anywhere breezy is good - Cyclades again and yes Portugal would fit this too.

I do adore Greece and have been many times but I try to go earlier in the season these days. My
enduring memories of Greek island hopping in my early 20s is beautiful scenery, gorgeous beaches, amazing weather, fabulous partying…and being relentlessly harassed by wasps (one particularly unpleasant incident with one hiding in my coke can that still gives me the fear!)

Portugal is a good shout and a family pleaser…good to know about the breezy point!
