Girls holiday advice

We've just got to our hotel for a week's holiday, myself, my best friend and 2 of her friends are sharing a room, I hardly know the 2 friends but agreed to come because it'll be good to get to know them.

We've walked into the room, which is fine except each of us has gone for a wee in the ensuite and the walls are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING!!! Now I'm ok with them hearing me have a wee but I'm now panicking about the fact I'll need a number 2 at some point and it's a beach holiday so I can't really hold it in as I need a flat tummy. I know everyone does it but I'm not comfortable doing it with people I don't really know hearing me and smelling it

I'm not regular and tbh I suffer constipation mostly anyway and normally I'd just go when I got home (horrific for my health I know) but as I will be wearing a bikini waiting that long isn't an option

Time it with a shower, run the shower, do the necessary then shower.

If it's a hotel and you are a morning person (iYSWIM) then use the lobby toilets.

Pop up to the room when you are all pool side?

Roadaheadclear · 01/07/2024 16:00

toilet roll in the pan!

Groovee · 01/07/2024 16:01

I tend to go to the hotel toilets by the pool or bar.

Beautifulbythebay · 01/07/2024 16:01

V I poo...

NicoleSkidman · 01/07/2024 16:02

Do you really believe your stomach looks different before and after a poo?!

You either need to use a different toilet or put toilet roll in the bowl so it doesn’t make a splash sound. You’re over thinking this.

jeaux90 · 01/07/2024 16:05

Take your phone in the bathroom with you and play music

FinallyHere · 01/07/2024 16:07

This is honestly why I need my own en-suite or it isn't any kind of holiday for me.

It was just the cheapest room we could find and cheaper than separate bedrooms

Totally hear what you're saying, my friend managed to convince me after a few drinks and didn't have the confidence to pull out. Maybe I'm going to have to be honest and open up, as you say probably at least one of them is having the same thoughts

I'd agree that this ( either constipation or the opposite) is widespread but just not talked about very much. My gynaecologist told me that the reason HM The Queen used to travel with a supply of Malvern water was exactly to avoid the kind of digestive upsets that others endure, since when travelling she would have to show up to banquets etc regardless of how her tummy was feeling so keeping everything as same as at home was important

Imagine having to get dressed up to receive people then eat in public when not sure about your tummy.

He (gynaecologist) claimed he could telll from her expression sometimes that all was "not well" in that department.

I'd encourage you to talk about it to your friends esp if you are going to share a room.

Well if you err towards constipation it should be a bit easier then. Go in the communal areas like hotel reception, or round the pool. Or nip back to the room when everyone’s at the pool “because you forgot something”….

MissAmbrosia · 01/07/2024 20:09

When going away with my friends we always try to get a 2nd bathroom or "poo" loo, Mind you we are all middle aged and there are very few topics of conversation that are off limits, which might not be for everyone.

hastalava · 01/07/2024 20:24

Is there a window in the loo? If not buy an air freshener or use your deodorant spray.

If I were in a room with 3 others (I wouldn't be, believe me but...) I would be straight up and kick everyone out on the balcony while I was "performing". Unless they were all asleep. Surely that's reasonable, provided you are up front enough to say it, if it bothers you that much.

Gemz1010 · 03/07/2024 13:08

Well the time came this morning where I had to 'forget something' and do the deed but one of the other girls (Jess) came back to the room with me so I had to fess up but she admitted she'd been too shy to go too so I felt a bit better about it. She said she'd go out on the balcony while I went and I sat out on the balcony while she went.

Apparently she has stomach issues too
