Sorrento

Hi everyone, looking at holiday options for next year and are considering Italy. Will be 2 adults and 2 kids (age 13 and 6). We need to be able to fly direct from Scotland and I can't go on boats due to severe motion sickness so any ferry crossings etc are out. We want somewhere we can eat out every night and there are plenty of restaurants within an easy walk of our accommodation. Thinking Sorrento might fit the bill for us as we could fly direct to Naples.

Any suggestions of accommodation that would work for us (I think hotels further up the hill might be a struggle for the youngest to walk back to at the end of the evening). We don't mind if its a hotel or apartments etc but would need a decent pool for the kids. Budget probably up to around 5k.

Thanks for any help and advice anyone can give me.

How long for? And what dates? I know the Scottish school holidays are earlier which could worm to your advantage!

We'd be going for 7 nights and could travel any time in July.

There's not much for kids in Sorrento. Can you fly to Verona and go to lake Garda instead?

The Hilton Sorrento Palace. We went last August and had a wonderful holiday.

Has family rooms with sliding doors between the two rooms. Pool was fab and could always get a lounger. A sensible walk into town - definitely doable for a six year old. Comments about it being “out of town” tend to come from Americans who like to drive everywhere. It’s literally 10 mins 😂😂😂

My kids liked the children’s buffet at breakfast. Everything sugar you could ever want.

We have stayed here several hols with kids of various ages over the years and loved it. Walking (20 mins) distance to the centre of town. Extremely friendly staff and plenty of places around to eat.

Thanks everyone, I'll have a look at these suggestions and have a look at Lake Garda too.

We stayed at Hotel La Solara in Sorrento last year. At the time, our kids were 16 & 13. They both loved Sorrento, we did Pompeii & Herculaneum, Capri etc. The hotel had a free shuttle bus every hour into the town, it was every day 8am-11pm. The pool was good, rooms clean, staff very friendly & food was amazing!

We stayed at the Hotel Michelangelo last year and loved it. Decor is a bit dated but that’s standard for Italy. We arrived by train from Naples via Pompeii and the hotel was a 5 minute walk from the train station. Also a great location for wandering into town after aperitivo on the hotel rooftop.
