A trip for me and DS 17

DS will be 17 next summer and starting university in the autumn. I've said we'll have a trip away just the two of us. So far we've thought of Glastonbury, clubbing in Ibiza, a canoeing trip in the balaerics.

We want sun, to let our hair down and to just make memories. Max 1 week.

Has anyone done anything like this or have any suggestions?

Would he want to go to Glastonbury or Ibiza with his mum, though? A holiday together is a lovely idea, but you need to make sure you choose the right one. What would he like to do?

We've spoke about a trip and he's really enthusiastic.

He's expressing the desire for sun. I'm really lucky in the fact that he's still very happy to spend time with me and I'm happy to maximise on that!

Clubbing with your son really isn’t appropriate, OP.

I wouldn’t book anything just yet in case he has a change of heart by next summer. You can’t bank on Glastonbury tickets, I’d try a smaller festival together this summer to see how you get on.

17 seems young to be starting at uni?

Why not?

@FormerlySpeckledyHen Trying one out this year sounds like a good idea. I usually book by trips so far in advance to get the cheaper air fares but I guess I can relax a little here as we won't be tied to school holidays

He's a summer born so 18th birthday is late July. Then uni in the autumn.

Why not? We're hardly going to be popping pills and slumming it in a Club 18-30 apartment.

Ibiza was his suggestion BTW.

Of course you can go clubbing with your son. How bizarre to say it’s inappropriate!
is there a big book of rules somewhere?

We took both our late teens island hopping in Greece. Couple of days in Athens then three islands and flew home from the last one.

PizzaPastaWine · 02/07/2024 19:36

@allallaboardtheplaybus Any islands you recommend? We love Greece but usually holiday in Crete/Rhodes.

Cyprus? Atlantico Mare is a lovely hotel just near Ayia Napa, you could do a beach club day on Nissi beach, clubs in AN but also a beautiful hotel and do boat trips etc?
