Solidarity for children's first time abroad!

Hi

DH and I are on holiday in Paphos with our DDs (3 and 5), friends of ours, and their DD, 6, and we are having an amazing time! It's our DDs first time abroad, and to be fair they have been managing really well... Until today! Today youngest dd has turned into something off the exorcist - overtired then napped before dinner and now wide awake and going on like a stroppy teenager, wants everything, taking things off her sister and tempering.

DH and I, pre-kids, spent most of our holidays snoozing and napping in the sun, so this is a whole new ball game! -The heat and early mornings have knocked me for 6 and on night 3 of 10, I am groggy and tired; feels a mix between a hangover (without the drinking) and having a newborn, and we are all tucked up in bed!

Solidarity to any other parents in a similar position - the sleep exhaustion is real!

I remember those days but I only made that mistake once. It is really awful, solidarity OP!

I then went for several years with Scott Dunn, they have the best kids clubs and as a lone parent the time out for me was priceless, DD had a blast too and was super chilled in the evenings.

I hope the holiday gets better.

Oh no - I hope things get better for you!

Holidays with young kids are hard full stop. A mixture of different surroundings, the flight, changes in routine etc. Probably aren't helping.

Maybe plan a calm day with some quiet time in the afternoon for tomorrow.

It does get easier as they get older! We went to Austria last year when DS was 9 and it was an absolute breeze. So much so, we are going back in August.

Thank you both for your replies! @jeaux90 I'm pleased your DD enjoyed the kids clubs and you got some well earned rest! @PumpkinPie2016 Austria sounds amazing! 9 sounds a chilled holiday age

Rest of the holiday has been amazing and apart from that blip, their behaviour has been great. We fly home tomorrow evening; DH has taken them both to the pool this morning while I'm in bed with a sickness bug 🙈 haven't been sick yet and hopefully won't, but feel dreadful and have had five immodium, so I'm hoping a day in bed, not drinking, plenty of rest and water, will sort me out
