Hi,

Any recommendations (not Dubai) of where to take my early teens end of Oct/beginning of Nov for sun?

Thanks
Nicola

Caribbean? Better November than October. However probs not much to do for your teens, unless they like swimming, water sports? It’s term time so you won’t get many other kids there.

Cyprus, Canaries, Southern Spain - all should have reasonable temperatures at that time of year.

Cape Verde but possibly a bit boring for teens unless they like swimming and sunbathing

samarrange · 29/06/2024 13:51

How much sun and with what level of guarantee?

You can be 80% sure of sunbatheable weather in Greece or southern Spain at the end of October, but with midday temperatures more like 25 then 30.

If you want to be 100% sure of being able to "lie and fry" (I learned this expression recently and love it!), then you will need to go further south than the Med. Also note that many of the activities and attractions in many Mediterranean resorts close down by the end of October.

We are taking our teens to Oman at that time of year.

  1. Couple of days in muscat cultral stuff, old city, food and markets.
  2. Into the mountains to do the balcony trek
  3. Drop down into the dessert 4 x 4 rides, camel treks, camping
  4. Back to muscat for pool action and boat ride to islands for snorkelling
Champagnebar · 01/07/2024 20:39

Also following. We plan to take DC in the October half term. I am unsure about Costa Del Sol being guaranteed to be sunny enough to enjoy the beach?

Canaries is always a win, but of course the prices are higher (and the flight twice as long..)

Twilightstarbright · 01/07/2024 21:16

@Champagnebar its good odds- it’s the sunniest part of Europe. I find the sea is always cold there though.

reluctantbrit · 01/07/2024 21:41

Southern Europe - we went a couple of times and while it was ok during the day the mornings and evenings do get fresh and there is always the chance of a rainy day as well.
You need to be careful where you go as resort towns also shut down from end of October and even some hotels reduce restaurant service.

We use it more as a sightseeing holiday than a pool/beach one.

Macarena1990 · 02/07/2024 16:06

Thailand.. we’ve been the last couple of years at that time of year. Nice and hot and so much for teens to do

How ridiculous 🤣

My son and I visited Easter and had a great time.

FrenchandSaunders · 02/07/2024 16:23

Turkey will still be warm.

Floofydawg · 02/07/2024 21:38

@MiddleagedBeachbum everyone I know, including myself, have been ill when visiting Egypt. Just speaking from experience. It's a shithole. And these were supposed 5 star hotels.

Moonshine5 · 02/07/2024 21:46

I read on MN that Cape Verde had no urgent medical facilities

This is true. Very limited medical facilities there, you would need to be flown to the Canary Islands for anything urgent/complex/serious. Always put me off going there with my DS!

Mangoetonmess · 02/07/2024 22:02

Mauritius is perfect at that time of year.

user1497077033 · 22/02/2026 22:30

Wanting to go away in October half term. Any recommendations for some October sun- about 30 degrees ? Turquoise coves for snorkelling with kids ! We usually go to Majorca in May - love it there but can’t go in May this year. We will hire a car and Villa. Somewhere pretty!

Therunecaster · 22/02/2026 23:18

Turkey is lovely in October

rainandshine38 · 22/02/2026 23:20
