We’re heading to Chamonix for a walking holiday in early January and would appreciate some tips.

Some nice day hikes, restaurants, activities etc.

Thanks in advance.

Do you ski…?! I’d never heard of hiking through snow before… mind blown! I guess cross-country skiing if not downhill..?

In January? Take snowshoes! Even the hikes on the valley floor will be covered in snow.

How long are you there for?
I’s recommend the Lac Blanc hike and the Grand Balcon Nord. On the GBN, at one point the trail splits – take the route leading to Signal Forbes for a great view of the Mer de Glace
If you do Aiguille du Midi, book the cable car tickets at least a day in advance. Also, remember to dress warmly.
