Maldives late October? Bad idea?

Will it be silly to risk going to the Maldives end of October for our honeymoon?

Will it just be stormy and rainy?

Any alternative places?

Ideally we'd love an over water sea villa! Xx

i wouldn’t
it is simply too perfect and special a place to risk the weather not being perfect

i went in march 2010 for
my honeymoon. 9 days of glorious sun and warmth and eating every meal outside

had the weather not been perfect
i can’t imagine the hol being quite so wonderful as it was

Such a shame, we are really keen to go on our honeymoon straight after the wedding! Especially as it works well with dp work and the time off. He works away a lot usually.

Maybe we could find something similar elsewhere 🧐

We went for our honeymoon which was late October/ early November. We were there for 9 days, only had one bad storm. The weather was beautiful for the rest of the time 😊

Oh really?

We'd be going 24th Oct for 10 days potentially...!

October is really unpredictable. You might be lucky, you might not. Depends whether you’re willing to risk it.

Lucy304 · 28/06/2024 21:58

@oberst maybe we were just lucky? I don't know anyone else who's been at that time of year so I've got no comparison. We absolutely loved it, determined to go back one day...

Yeah this is the thing! I don't want to spend a huge amount on a luxury holiday if we have to spend it indoors!!

Maybe we will look elsewhere.

We've been twice in August for 6 days the first time and 4 days the second time, and the weather was good, despite it being wet season (and meant to be just as wet as October). It's not that it never rained, but it was 30 mins rain and then it was fine again, and maybe it rained twice some days but then some days I don't think it really rained at all. However for a honeymoon maybe it's quite a big gamble.

We went there in November (20 years ago) and it was amazing. It did rain some days but it would absolutely pour down for 15-20 minutes and then the sun would come back and you would never know.
I didn't even think about it when booking, the weather never crossed our minds!
