Maldives recommendation

Looking for a recommendation for a Maldives resort - there are so many that I'm feeling overwhelmed trying to narrow down.

We'd like a great house reef for snorkelling (not interested in diving) and decent water sports. Some choice of restaurants but doesn't need to be too fancy and mostly buffet is fine. No need for kids club or spa.

For adults and younger teens.

Any suggestions very welcome!

Vilamendhoo is often recommended for teens and has a great house reef.

Kuramathi would be another one to look at - which is much less ££ if you don’t get their AI plan

Both these are on the lower end price wise although not the very cheapest. If your budget is higher then there are many more options !

Others to consider: Moofushi, Bandos, Meedhuparru, Vilu Reef

Water sports in the Maldives tend to be limited to paddleboarding, kayaking and (on some islands) motorised watersports which costs extra - there isn’t the wind for sailing or windsurfing or the waves for surfing, with one or two exceptions

Thank you for starting this thread! I'm
going to keep a very close eye on it.

Thank you so much! Will take a look at these as a starting point. Budget I'd say is medium, but I wonder whether a fancier villa on a (relatively!) less expensive island could work for us.

Kuramathi has some very swanky 2 storey villas which I think would be perfect with teens and I believe are at the “nicer” end of the island (it’s a larger island, used to be 2/3 separate resorts and still has different feel eg different buffet restaurants allocated to different areas).

If you want/are able to spend a little more, Moofushi is a bit pricier but worth it I believe
