Hi, has anyone recently ordered a uk adult passport as a first time applicant.

I recently done this and I booked a holiday for the 18th this month and got an interview with the passport office to approve my identity.
They've told me it is a 7-10 working day deliver but that wouldn't be in time for my holiday!!

not much i can do about it now but has anyone got a rough idea how long there's took to come so i can stop stressing

Sorry but I don't think you should stop stressing, it was daft to book a holiday with no passport.
It may come earlier but it may well not. DS's too 5 days but it was a renewal

I agree it's a bit silly getting a passport this close when there's no guarantee it'll get there in time. It should've been done awhile ago or the holiday should've been booked after you had your passport sorted. There's nothing you can do. You'll just have to wait. Mine took about 7 to 10 days, but that was a renewal not a first application.

Hate to break it to you, but if you booked a holiday for the 18th of this month youve missed your plane by over a week.

if however the holiday is on the 18th July that’s 16 working days away so what’s the problem?

I think you've left it way way too late for a first passport application, and ideally shouldn't have booked a holiday before you had that passport in your hand. When do you need to check in for your flight by? check-in window usually opens four weeks before the flight, and you can't do that without your passport number etc.

yeah sorry i feel like i haven’t clarified anything very well so basically i booked it in march for the 18th of july and straight away applied for my passport and sent all the appropriate documents it took them a while but the did approve my phone and birth certificate etc.

they booked me a interview to approve my identity on the 5th of July then it gets posted out

i phoned them and they said after the interview it will get sent out to you and should be with you in 4-10 working day.

Ah. Well, I still wouldn't have booked a holiday until having the passport but there's nothing you can do. 4 to 10 working days is what they say, but I wouldn't hold that as a definite, I've seen people say 3 weeks until they had theirs in their hands. Good luck and hope it arrives in time.
