Disneyland Paris this August?!

We’ve never been before, desperate to go, money is tight so trying to work out which week over August would be best (work in education so have to go over the summer break). Is anyone going this summer? And hints or tips for a newbie?? Is it cheaper to fly or take Eurostar? Is Eurostar easy to navigate? (I’ll be on my own with 2 kids). We are thinking the last weekend in August before school starts again.

The train doesn’t go to the park anymore.
you can get a train or a taxi from CDG, we got a taxi €80 each way and dropped us right outside our hotel. Other option is an Uber or a Bolt.

The Eurostar doesn't go to the park, but you can get a TGV from Lille and that one does go straight to the park.

I think the problem is that transport to Paris will be £££ because of the Olympics.

Eurostar is great for me but I live in London, from Manchester flying is probably easier.

How well do you and DC cope in queues and heat?

They’re fine in the crowds & heat as we’ve done Florida in May, we were just sensible about it & either went early or late to avoid midday.

I think you’ll be fine then- we were in SE Asia when DS was a toddler which has a section of MN Pearl clutching about the temperature and how on earth we would cope but we were fine! Just because some people like 22c max and empty beaches doesn’t mean others don’t cope fine in 35c and crowds.

Have a great trip!

I think you probably was not doing 25000 steps a day in that heat @Twilightstarbright certainly no beach to chill on in DLP. There are definitely more comfortable times to do DLP, Easter holidays or May Half Term. It’s not cheap so why rush it.

The park is shutting earlier because of the Olympics and it’ll be hot!

Exactly, it’s spending day(s) amidst a whole load of concrete in a Parisian August = bloody hot! Plus extra hassle with travel and early closures due to the Olympics. So hardly pearl clutching, just trying to give a true picture of what it is likely to be like.

I've been in august, 10 years ago too, was unbearably hot and ridiculously crowded compared to a previous trip not in summer.

We drove, stayed 100 miles away the night before so can arrive early in the day to maximise the time in the park, buy food from supermarkets and stay off park or Davy crocketts

Twilightstarbright · 01/07/2024 10:09

@AirportObs we did 22,000 steps sightseeing temples so not a million miles away…

crazypiglady · 01/07/2024 14:50

To be fair I had no idea it would be that hot, although we coped with it in Florida we did expect it. It sounds like Oct half term time might be more comfortable? Probably just as expensive?

Ive done Paris in August its madness! It’s not humid like Asia, it’s hot and dry. It’s baking.

There is literal no point since it’s open all year round.

PollyPut · 01/07/2024 23:22

No way would I go in August with two kids due to the heat. Not a chance.

Go some other time. book ahead on eurostar (change at lille) That is easy.
