La Manga / Murcia - what are your tips for things to see and do?

We're off to La Manga in May. I've not been to that part of Spain before and would welcome any ideas of things to see and do - including recommendations for restaurants please.

Ds is 4 and we give him some beach or pool time most days, but he's also great at just chugging along with us and enjoys all sorts of things like sight-seeing, eating out, etc.

I'd definitely like to visit the town of Murcia - is there anything there that's a must-see? Any restaurant recommendations?

And what else would you suggest?

Hi, we were there last year for 2 weeks with DS (7) and DD (3).
We were not in actual La Manga resort, which is kind of in the middle of the country - but we were nearby on the coast.
We enjoyed the town called Cartegena, plently of things to do there, old stuff/museuems if you are into that kind of thing, a harbour with naval boats, etc. You can go on boat trips from there too. There is a good pedestrianised part - and a beach too.
Rest of time we were mainly at the beach/pool.
Oh yeah, there is a good Go-Kart track, its very near La Manga - and they have a kart for all ages (even your DS!)
Can't really recommend any specific resaurant- we were staying right down at the tip of 'the strip' beside a lovely marina (in a lovely appartment rented off a Mner).

Thank you MrsBoo - I was starting to think I'd struck a blank and no MNers had been!
