Christmas break for adults

I'm considering going away for Christmas (no young children to consider) but not too far. Would like some nice weather and ideally a small town to wander around and near the sea/on the beach. Places I've considered at the moment are: Cyprus, Canary Islands (but which one as I don't know anything about any of them), Madeira (but I'm not sure if they have nice beaches), Cape Verde (not too sure about - anyone been?). Am I missing anywhere I should be looking at as well? And anyone got any suggestions of places to stay in any of those areas? Thank you.

I would suggest Sicily or Malta. Re the Canary Islands Lanzarote has nice beaches.

Cape Verde is very much under developed.

Thank you. I've been to Malta before but not Sicily. I've also wondered about a nice cruise but have never done one before so not sure.

The website called Cruise critic is about all things cruising and is a mine of information.

If you want to have a reliable shot at sunbathing then look at the Canaries, Cape Verde, or possibly Madeira. Anywhere in the Med will be pleasant, but you will only have 9 hours of daylight and even if it gets up to 18° at 1pm, it will be getting chilly on the beach by half past three.

I've spent 2 Xmases in Madeira, beautiful island.
I think Funchal might suit you.
The weather has been very pleasant, but the sort of "will I need a jacket" days.
I don't think the beaches are that good - & it is the Atlantic !

I've been to Sicily, & it was jacket & brolly weather in Oct/Nov.

Thanks @Georgyporky do you have any hotel recommendations for Madeira. I must say I do like a nice beach - even if it's just for a walk but would consider Madeira.

Have done a Christmas cruise which included the Canaries and Madeira. On two days it was too rough to dock so the weather is not consistently good. There were a couple of tee shirt days too!

Thanks @Wilma55 I don't like the idea of it being rough!!! Still very undecided about a cruise.
