Toulouse - your favourite things

Hoping some of you might be able to give me some of your favourite things to see and do in Toulouse. We’ll be there for 4 days in July (2 adults, mid 50s). We like strolling around, browsing and eating 😁 so that’s a given, but we also like a bit of culture, art, books and going to quirky places that might not be well known. We’re staying in the Carmes area. Merci!

We did a day trip to Carcassonne on the train - managed to get a special deal where it was one euro per person each way but that was a couple of years ago - it's a lovely place and worth visiting the castle.

Well if you want quirky there’s La Halle de La Machine, which is in Montaudran, one of Toulouse’s north eastern suburbs..

If you are into techie stuff not far from there (pretty much the other side of the Peripherique) there’s the Cite de l’Espace, which is a small space flight museum (you can just about stretch a visit out to a couple of hours), and out near the airport (Blagnac) there’s also a very good aviation museum.

BTW on the subject of eating maybe have a look at Michel Sarran’s Michelin starred restaurant which is about a 10 minutes walk from the city centre (Place de la Republique) If you go you might need to take out a mortgage to pay the bill but it’s stunningly good food (as it should be).
