Long weekend to do with my pony mad daughter (age 11) next summer half term

I am looking into short trips that I could do with my daughter in our summer half term next year. I will need to be back by the Tuesday to pick my son up from a school trip so it could only be a weekend / long weekend.

Is there anything that you would recommend? I have been looking at Iceland (she really wants to ride some Icelandic ponies) but would be glad of some suggestions. I don’t mind spending some money - our half term is, weirdly, in mid June so travel is a bit cheaper than most half terms.

FreeRein

Oh wow, I’d never heard of FreeRein! Unfortunately I don’t ride - I am hoping I can book her a few rides while I settle down with a good book. Perhaps that is unrealistic.

Are you thinking in uk or abroad?

CruCru · 19/06/2024 07:03

Either!

I guess depends on budget but majorca and Ibiza are doable for mini breaks and plenty of riding schools. I've done similar with my DD.

That's a great idea - thanks! I've been to Iceland but never to either Majorca nor Ibiza.

Have a look at FarmCamps in the Netherlands. We’ve done two: Fleur Stables and De Smulhoeve. Both are perfect for horse lovers, but you’d need a car.

Super, I’ll check it out!

You have to be 12 for Free Rein (or 14 if on a guided trip).

Slieve Aughty Centre or Annaharvey Farm in Ireland do family riding holidays.
