Where would you go in November for a week?

We were thinking about going to Egypt but are slightly put off by stories/the situation nearby. We usually do winter sun in the Caribbean but we're bored of doing the same thing.

We were thinking somewhere warm and sunny but we'd not be adverse to a suggestion of a European country/region/city that has cheap 5* hotels so we can be pampered.

I’d go to Fuerteventura, but you could look at Cape Verde

My mum & dad went to Tenerife in late Nov/early Dec for years.
Not hot-hot, but very pleasant temperature.

Dubai. It’s not as expensive as some people think and was actually cheaper for us than going Greece 😱

Oman

Recently returned from Egypt and it was completely safe, they have struggled with their tourism because of the situation in the Middle East but having travelled all over there, there was never a moment of feeling unsafe.

Bali

Thailand - just choose an area with low rainfall.
I thought there was current advice against travel to most parts of Egypt? We did a week long Nile cruise many years ago and it was truly fantastic.

We usually do Lanzarote early Dec, with a heated pool I've swum every day.
I fancy Oman but it's much more expensive and the flight is longer. I'm always very pleased to get off the plane after 4/4.5 hours these day.

@trilliee The Caribbean is many islands. Quite a lot of variety we’ve found. Try Bahamas or Mexico. South Africa could work as there’s virtually no time difference. Ditto Kenya.

Not sure Gaza situation ruins Egypt. The Nile is still there! Try Morocco.

Cape Verde, if you like the relaxed vibe of the Caribbean it has that but much quieter. Lovely place, amazing people, feels very safe with little hassling. I can recommend the Boa Vista Palace hotel. The only hotel I've ever considered returning to.
Weather is great in November and it's not as windy as the canaries

Dubai

Consider The Gambia. Weather is great in November, lots of things to see and do but equally can be a fly and flop holiday if you want it to be. Only a 6 hour flight or so from UK.

Seychelles, Zanzibar or Mauritius if you want the Carribbean resort type vibe, but with different things to do. Maldives also very lovely but always expensive. I haven't been to Oman, but think it could also be an option, very desert like scenery wise, so similar to the red sea resorts but further away from the Israel-Gaza conflict.

TizerorFizz · 27/06/2024 09:26

Some of these suggestions are not cheap 5 star! Dubai and Oman, probably not. However they are alternatives to Caribbean islands but not to the best of the Caribbean!

Cape Verde, it’s their hot season September to Jan. We’ve been to both islands multiple times but the Melia Princess on Sal is by far our favourite and worth the extra ££
