Car hire insurance

I'm hiring a car to drive on Holiday and we'll be using it in France, Germany, Switzerland and mainly Italy. Mainly because I want a more comfortable, new car for the duration.

My pet peeve are the excess charges/daily rates the car hire companies add on, which are almost half the price of the car! My own insurance policy doesn't cover hire car excess.

I've seen a company called Worldwide Insure that gave me a quote of £75 for an Annual Europe Cover for Max 60 days of the year. Has anyone used this for alternative cover? Or a similar policy with another Insurance company?

Would love to hear any feedback.

We use Questor for this as we rent cars at least twice a year. Think it was about 50 for the two of us for world wide for annual cover. I've had to claim twice and there were no problems.

We have used reducemyexcess for years. We've never had to claim on it, luckily, but you can use it for a single trip or an annual policy. And they almost always have a 10% off offer on, which does seem to give you a lower price.

Thanks for the responses, I'll take a look at those now.
