Greece/Italy holiday with 2 year old

Hi all,

Looking for recommendations for family friendly holiday - preferably Greece or Italy but open to others. 2 adults age and one child who is 2 year old. Willing to fly up to 4 hours. Travel anytime from now till end Sep.

Love the idea of self catering villa with pool, walking distance to beach and restaurants/shops.

Failing that, also open to all inclusive hotel, preferably with kids club/crèche that we could use if needed.

Don't have a massive budget - approx £3000 max.

Any advice/recommendations welcome!!!

Thank you :)

My advice is don’t go until the end of September , it’s too hot for toddler.

Thanks. Only issue is I'll be over 36 weeks pregnant by end of September so really we are looking earlier

Heavily pregnant + toddler + summer heat + turkey/greece/mediterranean in what is expected to be an exceptionally hot year sounds horrific to me.

what about Atlantic coasts of northern Spain or France, Austria, Germany mountains or one of the Belgian/dutch family parks ?

Starting to think that too! Definitely open to other options so if anyone has specific recommendations for somewhere they have stayed that isn't Greece or Italy, we'd appreciate that :)

In your shoes, I'd go to Cornwall, or the Norfolk Coast. If you really must go abroad, I'd think about Brittany. Not sure if something like Pierre et Vacance is within your budget in high season but the many caravan/campsites will be and they come with child friendly bells and Whistles.

Not many small villas in France come with pools, you are more likely to find a cluster of gites with a shared pool but I don't think you will find them in budget for £3k and certainly not in high season if you want to be near the beach and shops.

You didn't specify one or two weeks.

Just a week for us :)

£3k won't get you a week in Italy unless you book an airbnb and find cheapo Ryan Air/Easy Jet type flights.

This is one time where I may physically use an actual travel agent and have a chat with them about toddler friendly places in that budget.

Have a look at this website. When we had babies/small DC I found several great places to stay: https://www.babyfriendlyboltholes.co.uk/

But as others have said, I wouldn't be going to Greece or Italy with a toddler in the high summer - it's too hot - and you're pregnant too. I'd stick with somewhere cooler like Portugal, northern Spain, western France, Belgium, Netherlands or UK.

I reckon the South Coast of Brittany could suit you nicely. Warm but not too warm hopefully (bearing in mind that even on the North Coast of Brittany, not known for its warm weather, July temperatures were in the late thirties in the heatwave 2 years ago). The Golf of Morbihan has really gently shelving sandy beaches and warm sea. Vannes is a gorgeous town, there are standing stones everywhere, and we went on a lovely trip on a classic sailing boat where toddlers went for free.
