Easiest/quickest way to get from Manchester to Loch Ness for a couple of days

Looking for advice on how to get from Manchester (or willing to fly from other nearby cities like Liverpool, Leeds) to Inverness, and then onward to Loch Ness.
I don't drive, so would be reliant on public transport. I presume flying is the easiest way to get there? But how easy is it to get from Inverness to Loch Ness?
Looking to do it on a budget if possible.

A quick Google found this;

Bus is worth thinking about, or train to Glasgow then bus from there - Scottish Citylink website for coaches from Buchanan St bus station to Inverness - can drop you off at the right village/town depending where on Loch Ness you need to get to. Or fly to Inverness (if you are made of money, those flights are not cheap) and bus back down to where you want to be.

I'd book a tour. There are busses from Inverness but not great and service finishes early.

If you are keen to keep costs as low as possible then worth considering the Megabus from Manchester to Glasgow before onward travel to Loch Ness - likely to be a lot cheaper than train or plane

What do you want to do at Loch Ness? The bus from Inverness to Fort William stops at Urquhart Castle which is at the side of the loch. It's not very frequent though.

Fly to Inverness
Train to Inverness
Bus to Inverness

Enjoy Inverness (it's a lovely small city) and don't bother going to Loch Ness (hideous tartan tourist trap).

I think loganair flies from Manchester to Inverness but not sure on when it flies or how much. Have you tried rome2rio.com? I find it's a helpful website to show you the best way to get between 2 locations. Just double check what it says with the local company in case the info is out of date. I use it in lots of countries around the world and it's mostly been right.

Loganair fly direct Manchester to Inverness. Not aure if it’s daily though.

StripedTomatoes · 10/06/2024 13:09

Loganair are usually £££ and pretty small planes, if that's an issue at all.

Which bit of Loch Ness do you want to visit? It's nearly 25 miles from end to end.
