Twin-centre family holiday Singapore and...?

Kids will be 9 and 7, thinking about a trip in the Christmas holidays (or possibly Easter).

We went to Singapore years ago and I remember lots of good things for kids. Where else could we go assuming we have two weeks?

Not Bali. Somewhere with beaches and maybe some activities, interesting wildlife? Ideally not many more flight hours given the long journey back to the UK! And not crazy expensive as the total holiday cost will be high.

Club med Bintan

Borneo for a few days for the wildlife then wind down at Langkawi for a few days for the beaches and touristy activities.

Langkawi, an island in Malaysia - easy to get to from Singapore, and cheaper

Penang and Langkawi. Penang for Georgetown, (batu ferringhi is jellyfishy, and very built up now) and Langkawi for beaches and wildlife.

Sabah - beaches, orangutan, national parks. Beautiful.

Came on to say Penang and Langkwai too - so second / third / fourth PPs

Vietnam?

We are having to fly via Singapore when we go.

Thailand-southern islands if you want beaches.

Phuket is the largest with the most to see and do. It also has in international airport, so its possible to fly home from there rather than returning to Singapore. Many other islands though. Phuket has elephant sanctuaries, theatre/circus type show (FantaSea), delicious food and family friendly. Avoid Patong beach though. Down the coast, Karon and Kata are quieter and nicer.

Penang. Amazing culture.

I've travelled fairly extensively in SEA, but Penang has a special place in my heart, and is the place I've returned to most often.

Bintan Island. You can get a ferry from Singapore.

Hire a car and drive up through Malaysia.

Langkawi

My DDs went to Singapore and Langkawi in January. Really enjoyed it. Also spent a couple of days in Kuala Lumpur.

I looked into this recently and decided either Borneo or Vietnam (though have now decided to spend all the time in Vietnam).

If at Easter Borneo (Sepilok and Kinabatangan river), think need to go via Kota Kinabalu from Singapore then on to Sandakan for those.
