Majorca or Tenerife?

Anyone been to both? What do they prefer?I have been looking at spring bitacora in Tenerife for our family holiday next year but the longer plane journey is putting me off. I was thinking maybe Majorca but do they have anything else to do rather than beaches? My husband doesn't like laying about too long so I thought maybe Tenerife would be good to do the animals parks etc...

Weather too unreliable in Mallorca except June/July/August. Plus apparently tourists really not welcome ATM. Love Tenerife, weather so nice, people nice, good activities

Wasn't it in Majorca that the locals were having protests that they don't want the English tourists? That would put me off straightaway

If it's May or June, I would definitely go to Tenerife. You risk a week of rain in Mallorca at that time of year! X

Sorry, we had both times a villa

@reluctantbrit Can you recommend a villa? Struggled to find a decent sized one with good facilities and location for Mallorca.

I've been to both, both great but I think Majorca has the edge. We loved Majorca ,the resort we stayed in didn't have much going on, but the hotel was incredible and the entertainment was brilliant for kids. It just had a real family feel.

@Ineedaholidayyyy do you know what resort you stayed in? I can't decide on one they all look lovely online

I have never gone with children but Cala D'Or and neighbouring bays are lovely for families.

We stayed in Cala Bona , it's a small resort but nice . Cala Millor is only around the corner which is more lively, it just depends what you are looking for.

If its May I would to Tenerife over Majorca just over the weather, Tenerife tends to be hotter in my experience in May time. But if height of summer July/Aug Majorca heats right up so i'd go then

This . Definitely my happy place . My children have such happy memories and we took our granddaughter twice last year .She adored the fruit man on the beach .

Majorca was very humid when we went in August, was a bit uncomfortable. I think would be a bit cool in May, Tenerife in May is lovely.
I love Tenerife, we always hire a car and get our into the mountains for hikes, Los Gigantes is a lovely location, very dramatic coast line

We stayed near Can Picafort, lovely area with a wide sandy beach and shallow water. But our villa was too isolated. No issue when DD was 2 but at 4 she was hard work with no toys, nowhere to go apart from an unheated pool (luckily we had her wetsuit with us).

Definitely look for something in walking distance of the beach, a park, playground and cafes/restaurants.

We looked again at Playa de Muro but for hotels.

There were a few protests in the capital a few weeks ago

To be really clear, the protests were not anti tourist. It was about the price and scarcity of housing for residents because of the impact of things like AirBnB. We have a similar issue in parts of the UK such as Cornwall
