Majorca in August 2024

I was planning to book a week in Menorca in August but it looks like I’m going to be priced out of most “nice” options. So I’m turning my attention to Majorca.

I am hoping to spend about £3,500 for a week, half-board or all inclusive, in a 4-star hotel on a nice beach in a quiet, family area. Were a family of four - two adults & two children aged 3 and nearly 8. On holiday we like sightseeing and going for walks. The children mostly want to pootle about on a beach and splash in a nice pool (the eldest can swim independently but the youngest can’t so something that suits them both). I’ve started looking at Puerto Pollensa but wondered if this was a good choice and if there’s somewhere better to consider.

Many thanks for any recommendations of areas or hotels!

I've booked fergus club palma nova for June, I booked directly though hotel and separate flights. Doesn't look luxurious but reviews are generally good (there's a Facebook group). It's 10 min walk to the beach and is all inclusive x

We have stayed at the Zafiro in Cala Mesquida. Nice clean resort, fantastic beach, good food and nice pools. It’s fairly remote but we hired a car to explore.

There's a park opposite I believe and a little kids play pool with slides etc. 25 min transfer time and close to a few things.

Thank you! This is really helpful. We’ve never been to the Balearics before and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. A friend has been to a Fergus hotel so thanks for mentioning that - I’ll find out which one she went to as she said it was a nice, easy holiday!

Aparthotel Ses Fotges in Playa de Muro if you actually want to be beach front

Hipotels Coma Gran (Sa Coma) or Inturotel Cala Azul (Cala D’Or) or Mar Hotels Playa de Muro Suites (Playa Muro) if you’re happy being a walk from the beach

Puerto Pollensa is lovely. Beautiful beach and lovely walks.
August will be very busy no matter where you go in Spain.

I really like Palma, there's a short transfer time with lots of taxis available - I always prefer to get a private taxi so you don't have long waits on the coach. Nice beaches, and a lovely city.

This hotel seems good, I've been to all inclusive in Mexico, turkey and I fully don't expect it to be on that level but happy to have a walk out and get food if needed. Also walking distance to a McDonald's 😂

I don’t think you’ll get that for £3,500. £4 is more realistic. Happy to be corrected though

We are going to Puerto Pollensa at the end of June. I’m always relieved to see it recommended here

Cala D’Or gets great feedback on here too. I can’t recommend any particular accommodation

I have found £3,678 at Valentin Son Bou, £3,442 at Grupotel Macarella Suites and Spa, £2,634 at Hotel BQ Delfin Azul and £3,646 at Protur Sa Coma Playa Hotel and Spa (all either on Tui or Jet2). But you’re right - a fair few others coming up as north of £4k. This is our third holiday this year (I’ve got the bug again after not travelling through Covid and when our youngest was small) so budget is an important factor to make it happen!

If anyone knows anything about those hotels mentioned, please let me know!

Huge thanks for all the information so far.

Just to add - some of these are in Menorca, I realise!

We went to Iberostar Albufera park. It was amazing for kids

Bringbackthebeaver · 05/06/2024 15:47

Puerto Pollensa is nice. But it's going to be so hot in August for a 3 year old and a 7 year old. I wouldn't do it personally.

ffsgloria · 05/06/2024 16:20

Another recommendation for Puerto Pollensa, perfect place for a family holiday with kids. Based on recommendations here, we stayed at the Puerto Azul Hotel, can't fault it.

YouwouldthinkIhavemoresense · 05/06/2024 16:25

August will be baking everywhere in Mallorca in August. It’ll be heaving too. Everywhere.

Don’t be put off . It’s a gorgeous place and we’re fortunate to go there multiple times a year.

Some great recommendations on here .

Grr lost my first post

I was going to recommend this place, it's still available (from London airports) for <£3K for a week in August.

EasyJet holidays tend to be cheaper in my experience and include group transfers and luggage as standard.

We went there two years ago with my then 8yo. It was quiet but fine. Right near some gorgeous beaches (down stairs to get there) and evening entertainment is good for kids. No water slides if that's important. There is a small paddling pool for toddlers but be warned it was freezing!
