Best travel insurance

Going away Wednesday and looking for good travel insurance, have a few medical conditions (overactive thyroid, gastro issues) so if anyone has had good experiences when they’ve had to use it abroad that would be much appreciated, finding it tricky to find one that’s been recommended when an actual claim has been made rather than just customer service if buying the insurance! Thanks!

AA were good for a small amount though might exclude past issues.

InsureandGo were not good.

@Penguinsa thank you I did get a quote from inside and go and then dug a bit deeper so thank you for confirming that x

We used Insure and Go in Jan 2020 for a summer 2020 trip which obviously could not go ahead due to covid but they didn't help with anything. I got almost everything back in the end but took a year of me chasing and pleading and their insurance was worthless and would never use them again.

There was a lady on here with stage 4 cancer and she used InsuranceWith and they paid out I think £5,000 or so in US which was good for CT scans.

Admiral covered us when my MIL was admitted to hospital. We couldn't go on our trip in the end due to it being unexpectedly terminal, and they paid us the full amount of the trip and were lovely.

I feel like they'd definitely pay out for illness of the primary insurance holder, if they were willing to pay out for a close relative's illness.

If you need pre-existing medical insurance there's a comparison website https://www.medicaltravelcompared.co.uk/travel-insurance/annual-multi-trip/?source=googleads&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0_WyBhDMARIsAL1Vz8vnUF515aCxSuHswObjvTyKcxhUuOyuSsBVACGyGdcR47r1HU6a1iAaAlqcEALw_wcB

Different companies are cheaper than some others depending on issue. We had annual for the Americas and it cost £800 for us both with Staysure.

In future though, a bit of advice, try to insure asap after booking so you'll be covered if something happens between booking and departure.
