Hit me with October suggestions

Looking for a European break during October half term, which for us starts Friday 25th thanks to an inset day.

Caveats are no plane travel and mild weather. Love train journeys but don’t want to spend the whole holiday on a train. D.C. are 13&16. City break or countryside, all options good on that front.

have started my own research but thought I’d see if anyone had suggestions for places they’ve been too and loved. Not thought about budget yet but I know most places you can book very cheap or very expensive, just interested in the destination at the moment!

The weather probably won’t be mild, but I’m taking DS to Munich by train in October HT.

Mild and by train is going to be tricky unless you use a sleeper train.

Have you looked at Seat61?

Yes love Seat61! By mild doesn’t have to be balmy just not british shit

Munich is worth a look then. DS will be nearly 11 when we go. I’ve got the science museum, BMW World, the Olympic Park and the thermal water park at Erding planned for us.

Or Avignon for the pope stuff and the Pont du Gard. It’s a nice little city.
