The Lake District

We have never been to the Lake District. Would like to visit during the Summer holidays. Would be grateful for any advice on where to stay or places to visit.

Stay north to avoid the crowds x

What do you like doing? Do you want to stay in a town/village or would you prefer to be rural? The summer holidays, I presume you mean the school holidays? If you do not have children and can visit outside of the main school holidays I would do that as it will be far less busy.

It is possible to get away from the crowds though.

It’s all beautiful, but very busy in the summer holidays.
Try any of the villages such as Coniston, Ambleside, Hawkhead, or the bigger towns of Keswick and Kendal.
Join the National Trust for car parking as it can save a fortune
