Gran Canaria yay or nay!

Any views on Gran Canaria for a summer holiday? Is it nice? Been to Fuerteventura, Tenerife and Lanzarote in the past...

Other option is Portugal? Any recommendations for either places?

Gran Canaria really depends on what you want and where you are going.

Each of the resort areas has its pros and cons depending on whether you want more authentic or more touristy, quieter or louder, more or less nightlife, more luxurious hotel or less.

My favourite place is Puerto de Mogán (possibly my favourite town in the canaries to stay in).

I love GC. Going in a few weeks.
Portugal was v nice also.

Portugal is lovely.

Gran Canaria is a bit meh. I've stayed in different parts of the island and wouldn't go back.

I liked it. The North of the island is cooler but a bit more cultural, there are a few nice day trips you can do. The South is hot and sunny and resort-oriented. So it depends what you want. I wouldn't stay more than a week, there's not loads there.

What would you suggest for a teen-friendly four-night holiday - Gran Canaria or Malta? (Which areas are the best?)

I am looking for a good, safe, warm location with good transport links and proximity to restaurants and the beach, as I can't drive.

I'd rather stay at home than go to malta again. gran canaria would get my vote, especially mogan, but i prefer other canarian islands. or costa del sol.

actually let me refrase that....for 4 nights valletta is OK. we had terrible weather in october and the summer is too hot....so not sure about best time to go.
