We (my husband and I) would like to leave right after Christmas, for about 1 week;

  • Not too much of a time difference
  • flights not longer than 6 hours
  • prefer warm rather than snowy, anything over 15 degrees would be great
  • happy for hotel accommodation but prefer Airbnb
  • we love walking and art

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Marrakech would be my first thought - usually 20 odd in December. You could combine with Fez perhaps.

Funchal, Madeira would be another option - they do New Years really well too.

The Canary Islands? Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura?

How about Palma, a very walkable city in its own right and a good base for walking in Majorca, with lots of places you can get to by bus. Walks vary from strolls along a promenade to the GR-221 a 120km-long multi-day hike with nearly 6000m of elevation gain and everything in between.

Daily high around 16–17 if the sun is out (which it is most days). You probably won't get much actual sunbathing in, but lunch outside is usually possible. The Christmas lights are very pretty.

2½ hour flight from London, a bit more from Manchester (you didn't say where you are starting from🙏). One hour ahead of the UK.

If you like art there is the Joan Miro Foundation museum, Sa Bassa Blanca with its indoor and outdoor exhibits, and you could also stay here: https://www.hotelartmadams.com/

Thank you for the suggestions.
We have previously been to Marrakesh and Gomera, one of the smaller Canary Islands.
Madeira and Palma look great
Thank you everybody

One other suggestion if you like walking: The Azores. 19° pretty much year-round and it looks a bit like Cornwall or Brittany. Much easier to walk than Madeira, which is basically a volcano.
